Maximizing the impact of R&D investments made by Newfoundland and Labrador’s offshore oil and gas industry is a multifaceted process that requires foresight, experience, stewardship and diligence.  Industry needs must be effectively identified and transformed into research opportunities.  And those opportunities in turn must be matched with local expertise and capability to deliver relevant and actionable research outcomes.  Petroleum Research is a member-based organization that delivers value to Newfoundland and Labrador’s offshore oil and gas industry by:

  • Developing research plans and programs that advance member priorities;
  • Funding and managing research projects that produce tangible economic benefits; and,
  • Encouraging local capacity development in research focus areas by hosting collaborative research events and creating targeted funding opportunities.

Socio-Economic Benefits for Petroleum Industry Activity in Newfoundland and Labrador: 2015-2017

Building on previous studies on the socio-economic impact from petroleum activity in Newfoundland and Labrador (ACPI 2003, PRAC 2005 and 2009, PRNL 2012, PRNL2015), the current study documents the scale and range of economic benefits accruing to Newfoundland and Labrador as a result of petroleum industry activity between 2015 and 2017.
