Academic Research Funding

Petroleum Research’s programs and projects have produced many highly qualified personnel and contributed to the growth of research capability and capacity in Newfoundland and Labrador.   Petroleum Research recognizes the value of research across all technology readiness levels, from concept development to field proven solutions.

Academic funding is established through a number of mechanisms, including direct solicitation by Petroleum Research on specific research areas of interest, incorporation of academic funding through ongoing research projects and the involvement of students in research clusters, seminars and networking events.  Applications for funding must be submitted by faculty supervisors.  Academic research opportunities must be of high quality and be in alignment with our Research Focus Areas.

All academic R&D funded by Petroleum Research must take place in Newfoundland and Labrador.

Academic led proposals are also accepted in our Calls for Proposals and as Unsolicited Proposals.
